Privacy

It seems as if with the creation of social media we are constantly losing privacy. If you post something online it's not only available for your friends to see but also everyone else. Though social media sites let you change your privacy setting on your post those can be hard to decipher. Randi Zuckerberg was an example of how we may post something we think is private but not because of complicated privacy settings. Social media has also been added to job applications where companies can view your online profiles and everything you've posted. What happens when a potential employer sees something you've meant to private and between as inappropriate. The lack of privacy on social media may cause you to lose potential opportunities. Taylor's article in NPR shows how Jon Ossof's campaign for election is under attack due to what his competitors have found on his social media.  The lack of privacy on social media makes people critical about what they post, take away the freedom that the site intended for its users.

  1. I like how you mentioned Randi Zuckerberg in your blog. I got the chance to attend a panel where she spoke just 2 weeks ago. She is indeed a great example to mention and also I do see how Facebook or other social media sites contribute to an applicant getting selected or fired from a job.
