P2P
File sharing is when
a person uploads a document or file online for others to download on their own
devices. P2P file sharing is when you directly connect to another user online
to share a digital file with them. Examples of P2P sharing included sites like
Napster and Limewire that allowed users to download music that the uploaders
themselves had no rights to. Today P2P
sharing is present in torrenting sites that allow users to download books,
movies, or shows illegally. These sites threaten the business that they are
getting their content from. The music sharing P2P sites decreased the sales of
albums in the music industry. The article written by Brian Stelter and Brad Stone shows how
torrenting movies is threatening the sales of the film industry. They say the
film industry if "struggling against the video version of the digital
looting that capsized the music business."
